Possibly one thing worse than load shedding is having no water in your neighborhood. Rescue Rod takes pride in being able to offer emergency water line repairs at the drop of a hat. We are able to draw from our pool of equipment and experienced staff to respond to any pipe line emergency.

Recently we received an emergency call to repair a burst 560mm HDPE main feed to a water reservoir which services a community of thousands of people. Normally the reservoir would be able to sustain the community for 24 hours but due to high temperatures at the time of the incident the client expected that water consumption would be significantly increased.

With no time to waste Rescue Rod mobilized a team of technicians and purchased all the necessary materials. (If you are facing a similar scenario and are need of our assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.)

Step 1: Welding New Stubs

The burst section was cut out and removed, after which new stubs where welded onto the pipe ends. In the image below you can see where we welded the new stubs onto the old pipe.

Next we needed to press the new stub into the old pipe. You can see in the below images how the new stubs and flanges are in place.

Step 2: Fabricating the Replacement Section

Next the team fabricated a replacement section of pipe to fit exactly in between the flanges.
